School-Based Program

Now that the California State Department of Education has created content standards for the arts, schools are looking for teachers of dance. What do dance classes in schools look like through Luna? We believe the most effective way to bring dance to the school curriculum is through a comprehensive program that allows both full integration of the art form and stand-alone classes. Developing such a program is a long range process. LKD helps school-based teachers, administrators and dance specialists create programs to meet the unique needs of their school populations. The consulting services LKD offers to schools include:
Current schools that Luna works with: Direct Model Classes Oakland Unified School District - New Highland Academy Tilden Elementary School Westlake Middle School Continued Coaching/Support of School Based Teachers* Oakland Unified School District - New Highland Academy Tilden Elementary School Oakland High School East Oakland School of the Arts (EOSA) San Francisco Unified School District - District Dance Specialists Presideo Middle School Berkeley Unified School District - Martin Luther King Jnr. How do I find out more? As schools write grant proposals for art inclusion, LKD can help strategize the best design for dance education in their communities. Contact our School Alliance Manger, Danae Rees drees@lunakidsdance.org, for fees and information. |
