LKD General Information & Guidelines |
|
Please read this before registering. It is assumed all registrants have read and agree to comply with the guidelines provided herein. Please print this page for your records. Dates of Classes: Registration & Fees: Students are accepted on a first come/first-served basis. Refund Policy: Class size is limited and group learning is important. Therefore, we do not provide make-ups or refunds for any classes missed for any reason. Tuition Assistance: is available each semester to those who qualify. Please contact Studio Lab Registrar Erin Sullivan at 510.644.3629 or esullivan@lunakidsdance.org for an application or more information. Observation: Parents are invited to watch on the last class of each session! Progression: Our teaching philosophy allows plenty of room for each child to work at his/her own level. We expect that there is enough material in each course for a child to benefit from enrolling throughout the age span indicated. We design all of our classes to be repeated for 3 to 6 sessions. Because children develop skills at different rates, progression looks different for each child. Please read our class descriptions and age categories in the brochure or on our website and call if you have questions regarding the most appropriate placement for your child. We do not accept children under three years of age. We do not accept any child who is not toilet trained. Teaching Staff: Luna Kids Dance is proud to have one of the highest qualified faculties in the Bay Area. Our rigorous certification process is two years with ongoing staff development. It includes child development theory, contemporary learning theories and dance instructional methods. Our goal is to keep classes and instructors constant within any academic year, but to rotate teachers from year to year within sites and age groups. Attire: We suggest comfortable, loose clothing for all movement classes. Bare feet are required. Punctuality: Entering a huge dance room once a class is already in progress can be scary for young children. Timely arrival will help make your child's transition easier. All students must be picked up on time. Non-smoking policy: Smoking is prohibited in any class location and within a 15-foot perimeter. To file a complaint, contact the Alameda County Public Health Department Tobacco Control Program at (510) 628-STOP. Site-specific rules: Please keep your children under your supervision and in designated waiting areas until the teacher brings them into the dance space. No eating or drinking is allowed in the dance space.
